Cool Accessories ... Designed With Just a Permanent Marker?
RedPlum checks out how to create chic shirts, belts, headbands and more designed with regular permanent markers.
Want to know the biggest a-ha moment we've had in a while? Watching designer Betsey Johnson and some genius folks at Sharpie create leopard-print belts and super-sweet bangles with just the click of a permanent marker. It's a pretty perfect project to take on with the girls, or with the kids. Here's how:
- Grab a plastic or fabric accessory, preferably white or light-colored, and start drawing.
- If you're writing on fabric be sure to place a divider between layers to prevent bleeding.
- When you're done, feel free to wash the fabric as you would normally, but send it into the dryer first, to lock in the color.
- And don't limit yourself to the obvious. We've seen sneakers, totes and headbands decked out in one-of-a-kind designs, with not a bit of mess to clean up at the end!
