Day to Night in 4 Products!

By Kate Martel

You spend all day being a makeup minimalist—as you should during the summer months. But once the sun goes down don’t be afraid to turn up the heat with hues too dramatic for daytime. Whether it’s lining your lids in vibrant pops of color or streaking your cheeks with brilliant blush or bronzer, there are quick changes you can make to effortlessly transform your look from day to night—with just four little products tucked right in your purse.

Here’s our day to night toolkit:

Dark Shadow
Since you stick to shimmery sheers all day, have fun with bolder browns at night. Applying a streak of silky brown shadow in the crease of your eye is a great way to contour and add depth to your lids. We love 5-Colour Iridescent Eyeshadow in Goldfever by Dior (see left) because it’s the perfect palette for tan skin in the summer months.

Bold Liner
Eyeliner has an undeniable way of highlighting your eyes and making them pop, but applying too much or wearing it at the wrong time of day can make you look outright scary. The trick is to line in light shades during the day and save the dark for night. We love deep navy liner like Jet Set Waterproof Eye Liner by Smashbox.

Bolder Brows
Brows are often, yet tragically, overlooked. Investing in a kit like Brow Envy Brow Shaping & Defining Kit by Too Faced, is a great way to learn how to keep your brows "in shape". Fill in sparse areas and play up your arches with a few simple touches that will leave your brows undeniably beautiful. At night give them more definition and perhaps a longer line.

After dark, trade your waxy balm or transparent gloss for a lip lacquer with a little more life. We recommend trying something with a burst or color and just a touch of sparkle. Lip Lights Ultra Shine Lip Gloss by Model Co. is a great item to toss in your purse because the built-in lights make it easy to locate.
