I have a love/hate thing going on with resolutions.
Each January that nagging voice in the back of my head starts to whisper about losing a few pounds; spending more time with family and friends; cleaning, de-cluttering, purging; taking up a new hobby or class; spending more time at work; starting that novel - and all of a sudden I'm riddled with anxiety.
Why does the new year have to be about doing more? Maybe it should be about doing less!
What do I really want to do in this new year? I want to do more things to make me happy. And maybe that means not doing those things that my nagging voice wants me to do. You know why? Because that nagging voice is only focused on one thing - perfection. Once I quiet that voice by assuring it that perfection is not a goal but a myth and that happiness comes from doing things that make me feel good, I'm free to do just that.
Just think about it! What do you want to do? What makes you happy? Find out and do that!
