Four long years ago, we tippled our last cosmo in honor of Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha as our beloved HBO series Sex and the City faded to screen fuzz for the last time. Finally, we’re welcoming the foursome back for two dizzying hours of delicious debauchery and dozens of wardrobe changes as the girls go celluloid. Sure there are those unauthorized sneak peeks we’ve all seen slathered liberally across the net and cellphones nationwide, but all that gratis gawking on the sets of New York really just whetted our Sex-ual appetites for Carrie’s Big day. If you're a true devotee, chances are you already hit the theater on Saturday, and loved every moment of it. We'll talk for months about what we loved (clothes, shoes, our girls) and what we didn't about the film, but for most of us we're simply pleased to spend some time with these chicks again. But what to do when those two hours are up?
Since shopping is SATC’s official sport, it’s time to tie on some tie-ins. What else!
Feeling like drinking in the show’s atmosphere with a few girlfriends? Houlihan’s restaurant chain, in partnership with SKYY Vodka, is offering a quintet of drink specials, each channeling the girl it’s named for, plus one for Big thrown in for good measure. Carrie's libation, for instance, is the Tutu Mango Martini (see the pic above for the reason). Special prices on Wednesdays ($5 each because this is what Houlihan's calls Diva Night) on those SATC drinks mean you'll be able to knock them back easy, but may mean you'll want to designate a driver.
Next it's time for a bit of eye and arm candy. The upscale handbag-rental site Bag, Borrow or Steal (think Netflix for purses) has an exclusive partnership with the movie and is offering free trial memberships that let women borrow the same bags that were seen in the film. You can also log on to their Web site and take a purse-onality quiz to find out which of the four SATC girl you're most like, and what bags you would both carry. Finally, borrow any bag through July and you'll also be entered to win Sex and The City-themed prizes.
Next, make sure you’re shouting your loyalty to SJP by snapping up the newest addition to her personal clothing line Bitten, available exclusively at Steve and Barry's. Tanks and Ts with phrases such as "I'm with Mr. Big" will set you back only around $9. Plus they’ll make excellent jammie tops if you decide to wait for the DVD release so you can enjoy the ladies the old-school way—under the covers and on the small screen!
