Runway to Real Life: How to Wear the New Boot Styles - for Less!

By Kate Martel

It could quite possibly be the best season of them all—boot season. Not only are boots an incredibly fashionable choice, but they’re also surprisingly comfortable, practical for everyday, and this season they’re available in an array of options that are sure to please heel haters and lovers alike. Everything from knee-high riding boots to shallow ankle booties are showing up everywhere thanks to designers like Philip Lim and Jayson Brunsdon who left their mark on the runway last fall. Here are some of our favorite flat and high heeled boots at prices you won’t believe!

Flats
Nothing says comfort like a pair of flat bottom boots. They are the perfect thing to throw on when you’re running out the door once the temperature drops. Pair them with skinny jeans and an oversized sweater for an effortlessly cool look when you’re out on the town. If you’re all about height, try on a slouchy style that’ll look just right for winter like these Ruched Riding Flat Boots by Abaete from Payless (they’re only $25!). Or if short is more your style, slip on the Shanna zip-up boots from Aldo (About $45). They have a perfect laid-back look for fall.

Wedge Heel
Before you say no way to heels—stop for a second and consider the wedge. Wedges are a great option for those of you who need a little height but aren’t comfortable strutting around in stilettos for your day-to-day activity. Think of ‘em as flats with a little lift! The Robin Wedge Boot from Payless (About $25) is a perfect example of a stylish, mid-calf wedge boot with a cute little detail. For a slightly different version of this one, check out the Citywalk boots by Yellow Box. These brown leather boots look great dressed up or down and the metal studs on the ankle strap make them super stylish. (About $64). Looking for a little less wedge? check out the Short Stuff boots from Bakers. Between the slouchy leather and cute accent tie, these boots are way too cute to pass up!

Spike Heel
There’s something incredibly sexy about classic stiletto boots. And for those of you who love to love heels, this season there are a ton to choose from. The Ready To Spike ankle boot by Unlisted (About $40) have adorable button details and subtle pleats that make this boot perfect to sport with tights and a skirt or leggings and a dress. If you’re looking for something that goes to the knee (which looks incredible with skinny jeans and a blazer, or a dress with opaque tights), try the Strawberry Swirl Stretch Boot also from Unlisted (About $45). This sleek classic dresses up any ordinary outfit and will never go out of style.

Ankle Booties
Although booties are a little bit trendier than the other styles listed above, they’re still surprisingly easy to pull off (if you’re into heels that is). Booties look adorable with everything from tights and leggings to skinny jeans and skirts. They dress up casual clothes in a snap and work well for work or play. We love the Twist Bootine from Payless (About $20). The rich, gray suede shade and playful patent leather twist make ‘em a shooin’ for fall. If you’re really into trends and looking to spend a bit more money on this snazzy style of shoe, try the Magena Bootie by Vince Camuto (About $148). The sleek fold-over cuff is worth a little extra cash!
