Finalist #3 offered the judges' favorite take on the pot luck thanks to its creative theme and delicious home-court-cooked contribution of beer-drowned brats.
THE INVITES: In Milwaukee, Mary's spending her funds on a party for 16 of her nearest and dearest, who will first hear of her “Pass the Ball” Indoor Milwaukee Tailgate when they are hand-delivered an invitation. The invite's the "football" in the "pass the ball" theme, but will look a lot like your garden variety paper plate. On the back of each plate is written: “Tailgate at our house for the Big Game. We will have beer, brats, friends and plenty of fun. You and a guest are invited to Pass the Football (dish). Please fill this Football plate with your favorite dish or snack to share.”
THE MENU: "The guests would be supplying a lot of the food, except for the traditional grilled brats with onions," says Mary. "The drink is beer," she says, noting it's what her fair city's known for.
THE DECOR: "Just a football centerpiece in the middle of the table that would have all the snacks," says Mary. Crepe paper is used to “make a field” either in the living room and/or around the grilling area. Either during the game or at half time guests play “pass the ball” with an inflatable ball.
